UNC-Chapel Hill will extend closure until 1 p.m., then reopen on regular schedule
(Chapel Hill, N.C. – Feb. 27, 2015) – Due to safety considerations, UNC-Chapel Hill will extend its closed status Friday, Feb. 27, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. before reopening on a regular schedule.
Starting at 1 p.m., classes will be held and offices will be open. (Condition 1)
Today’s decision was based on a variety of safety factors including the expected time temperatures will rise above the freezing mark later this morning. That timing affects Chapel Hill Transit, which is resuming limited service this morning, and campus ground crews who will continue their hard work since Thursday to clear and treat sidewalks to make them as safe as possible for pedestrians.
For Students and Faculty
Classes will resume on the regular schedule starting at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27. Classes scheduled prior to 1 p.m. remain canceled. Arrangements to make up missed classes are at the discretion of the faculty member. (Condition 1)
University offices will remain closed between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27. (Condition 3) Severe weather essential (mandatory) employees are required to report to work as directed by their management. Non-mandatory employees must not report to work before 1 p.m. Under state Emergency Closing policy, non-mandatory employees will not have to use personal leave when Condition 3 is in effect.
Starting at 1 p.m., offices will reopen on a regular schedule. (Condition 1)

Unless a change is announced, the University always operates under Condition 1 – regular schedule.
