UNC’s Hans Paerl wins Odum Lifetime Achievement Award for ecological studies E-mail

Hans Paerl, Ph.D., of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Institute of Marine Sciences in Morehead City, is the 2011 winner of the Odum Award for Lifetime Achievement. Paerl, William R. Kenan Distinguished Professor of Marine and Environmental Sciences and and professor of environmental sciences and engineering at Gillings School of Global Public Health, received the award for his four decades of work to clarify the causes, consequences and mitigation of blooms in estuarine and coastal environments.
