Media note: Williams will not give remarks or interviews during his time at the Bull’s Head. To request an interview, contact Michael Taeckens at Algonquin Books at (919) 967-0108, ext. 14, or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Coach Roy Williams, who won a national championship in April with the men’s basketball team of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will sign copies of his new autobiography from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Bull’s Head Bookshop on campus.

Williams’ “Hard Work: A Life On And Off the Court” (Algonquin Books of Chapel Hill) will be on sale at the Bull’s Head on the publishing date of Nov. 3 for the publisher’s price of $24.95 plus tax. At the signing event, Williams will autograph only books purchased at the Bull’s Head; those attending should bring their receipts with their books or plan to buy the book at the event.

Beginning at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 5, the Bull’s Head will distribute 75 tickets to the event on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets will be given only to those who buy the book then or show a receipt for it from the Bull’s Head. Anyone presenting a ticket by 7 p.m. will be granted a space near the front of the line. Ticketholders arriving after 7 p.m. will need to go to the line’s end.

Up to five copies per person may be signed. Williams will sign books only – not other items, such as posters and pictures. To allow more people to get through the line, posed pictures with Williams will not be permitted. The Bull’s Head staff will take pictures of people as they get their books signed and upload them to a Flicker account at www.flickr.com/photos/bullsheadbookshop/.

Part of the proceeds from the sale of “Hard Work” will be donated to the Carolina Covenant, which provides a debt-free education for qualified low-income students. Williams and his wife, Wanda Williams, were honorary co-chairs of an effort that raised $10 million to support the Covenant.

For more information on the signing, visit the Bull’s Head or call (919) 962-5060. The shop is inside the Student Stores off South Road.
