The research also found that having an adult mentor increased teens’ likelihood of going to college by 50 per cent. ...Glen Elder of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill is a co-author on the study. Issues and Trends Rand leaving NC Legislature to head parole panel The Associated Press Senate Majority Leader Tony Rand, one of North Carolina's most powerful and colorful politicians, said Wednesday he was leaving the Legislature by the end of the year to become chairman of the state parole commission. ...Rand shepherded legislation for Perdue this year that gives probation officers more tools to keep an offender from getting into more trouble.
