Teams of entrepreneurial students, faculty and staff from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will compete for $50,000 in prizes at the 2010 Carolina Challenge final competition March 27. The finals begin at 1 p.m. at Kenan-Flagler Business School’s Koury Auditorium. The public is invited to attend the finals and the celebration that follows in the Henry and Felicité Latané Courtyard, located in front of the auditorium. The celebration will feature refreshments and live music. Grand prize winners will be announced. Free parking is available in Kenan-Flagler parking deck. At the finals, the four teams — two with commercial ventures and two with social — will pitch their business plans. Grand prize winners in each category receive $15,000. Second-place winners receive $7,500. Audience members will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite to win the $1,000 People's Choice award. Additional cash prizes will be awarded. The Carolina Challenge is a signature offering of the Carolina Entrepreneurial Initiative (CEI), a university-wide program directed by the Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise that helps UNC students, faculty and staff learn to transform their ideas into new ventures of all kinds.
