The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers has named five computer scientists at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as 2012 fellows. The institute is, according to its website, “the world’s largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity.” Fellows, the highest level of membership in the institute, are recognized for extraordinary accomplishments and career achievements. The new fellows, all in the computer science department in UNC’s College of Arts and Sciences, are:
