Carolina Moonlight gala on June 2 to raise funds for N.C. Botanical Garden programs E-mail
Monday, May 21, 2012
Music and moonlight are just two of the featured attractions for Carolina Moonlight, the first fundraising gala for the North Carolina Botanical Garden at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The gala will take place in and around the garden’s LEED Platinum Education Building and surrounding Piedmont Gardens (and underneath a full moon) 6:30 p.m.-11 p.m. June 2. Tickets are $125 ($85 of which is tax deductible). The event will include hors d’oeuvres from Durham Catering Company, wine and beer provided by Wine Authorities and Fullsteam Brewery and dancing to music by Rebecca & the Hi-Tones.

Before the gala and until 9:30 p.m. June 2, special trips, artwork and other items will be up for bids at a silent online auction. During the gala, the items will be displayed in the Pegg Exhibit Hall in the Education Building and guests will be able to bid on exclusive getaways.

All proceeds from the gala will support the garden’s programs in conservation, horticulture and education. The gala is named for Carolina Moonlight, a hybrid plant (Baptisia X) developed at the garden as a cross between white wild indigo (Baptisia alba) and the yellow wild indigo (Baptisia sphaerocarpa).
