The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has been named a “Best Buy” in the 2013 Fiske Guide to Colleges. Carolina is among 41 campuses – 20 public and 21 private -- designated as “Best Buy Schools.” Based on quality of academic offerings in relation to the cost of attendance, Fiske researchers combined cost data with academic and other lifestyle information about each campus to determine which schools offer remarkable educational opportunities at a modest cost. Of Carolina’s 2011 graduates, only 35 percent borrowed to finance their education. Their average cumulative debt was $15,472, well below the national average of $25,000. (See http://greatstudents.unc.edu for more information.) The latest Fiske guide highlights the quality of Carolina’s academic programs and outstanding faculty. Student housing and the on-campus meal plan packages also received praise. |
