The Carrboro Police Department is continuing to investigate the death of David Shannon.
The Carrboro Police Department is continuing to investigate the death of David Shannon. While this is an open and active investigation, we can release the following information regarding the circumstances surrounding Mr. Shannon’s death. At this time it appears that Mr. Shannon climbed some machinery located at the Ready Mixed Concrete Plant on Guthrie Avenue in Carrboro. During the climb, it appears Mr. Shannon fell from a height of approximately 17 feet and landed on the concrete surface below. Mr. Shannon suffered injuries that will be evaluated by the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the causality and severity. Witnesses have indicated that Mr. Shannon was seen drinking alcoholic beverages during the evening of Friday, October 26th and the early morning of Saturday October 27th. It is possible that alcohol impairment was a factor in this incident. Current information suggests that foul play was not involved in the death of Mr. Shannon.
