The event is at 3:30 p.m. in Gerrard Hall, located next to the Campus Y on the UNC campus. Roger Perry, chair of the Board of Trustees and a member of the Chancellor Search Committee, has invited all students, faculty and staff to attend the reception via a campuswide e-mail today.

In addition to Perry, others attending the reception will include current Chancellor James Moeser, who announced last fall he would step down at the end of the academic year on June 30, 2008.

Thorp, an alumnus and Fayetteville, N.C., native, is currently the dean of the University’s College of Arts and Sciences. Details about Chancellor-Elect Thorp’s appointment are available at www.unc.edu.
