Chancellor, mayor, student body president, faculty chair to vote Thursday, first day of early voting E-mail

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Chancellor James Moeser, Chapel Hill Mayor Kevin Foy, Faculty Chair Joe Templeton and Student Body President J.J. Raynor will cast their votes in the North Carolina primary at 2 p.m. Thursday (April 17) – the first day of early primary voting at the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center.

early vote Other student leaders and members of the University community who are residents of Orange County plan to join them as class and work schedules permit.

Voting takes place in the faculty lounge on the 2nd floor of Morehead Planetarium and Science Center.

Dates and times for early voting at the Morehead are:
  • Thursday and Friday, April 17 and 18 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Monday through Friday, April 21-25 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Monday through Friday, April 28-May 2 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 3 – 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Across North Carolina, officials are encouraging early voting as an easy way to cast votes and participate in the political process. Voter registration is up across the state and lines are expected at polling places on May 6.

One-stop early voting allows residents of any North Carolina county to register and vote in one stop at any early voting site in that county. To vote, one must be a North Carolina resident, a U.S. citizen and age 18 by Nov. 4, 2008. Morehead Planetarium and Science Center is one of four one-stop early voting sites in Orange County.
