Eight energy efficiency projects at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill not only saved $36,000 annually, they got the university mentioned in a new National Wildlife Federation report on campus initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. “Higher Education in a Warming World: The Business Case for Climate Leadership on Campus,” demonstrates how schools are stepping up efforts in response to the potential threats of global warming and how these institutions are reaping multiple rewards.

New FPG center offers novel professional development resources E-mail

The FPG Child Development Institute at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has received a $2.5 million grant to address the national need to improve the skills of professionals working with young children with disabilities and their families. The Center to Mobilize Early Childhood Knowledge will provide a new approach to professional development that emphasizes exchange and collaboration via online resources shaped by the needs of those in the field.

Lineberger joins Lance Armstrong Foundation Survivorship Network E-mail

The Lance Armstrong Foundation today announced that the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center has joined the LIVESTRONG Survivorship Center of Excellence Network to address the needs of the growing number of cancer survivors in the United States. Lineberger is the eighth network member institution in the nation.
